5 lakh tax payers benefitted from self-tax assesment
Bhopal. The Commercial Tax department has given relief to the tax payers under the various tax procedures after the implementation of new tax system Goods and Service Tax (GST) in the state. Under this, benefit of self tax assessment has been provided to the tax payers.
The department has redressed the 2 lakh 79 thousand cases without calling tax payers at office by accepting the cases as it is, presented for the period 2015-16 under the self tax assessment process. The department had started a deemed tax assessment scheme to give more relief to the tax payers in June 2017. Under the scheme, a provision to provide facility to tax payers, who have an annual turnover of Rs. 50 crore or above Rs. 50 crore was made. Benefit to 2 lakh 22 thousand 700 tax payers has been given in the state under the scheme. It may be mentioned that all the check posts of the commercial tax department have been abolished from July 2017 in the state.
Implementation GST System: Successful implementation of new GST system has been carried out in the state. About 99 percent registered tax payers have already been brought under the new tax system. Moreover, training has also been imparted to the officers of the department in connection to the new tax system and its application. The department has also provided information to the tax payers and tax consultants about the provisions of the new tax system by conducting different workshops in the entire state. The new tax system is being implemented through GST network. Under this facilities like e-registration, e-return and e-payment have been provided to the tax payers.
