Academic seminars to be held on World Teacher’s Day

Bhopal. On the occasion of the World Teacher’s Day, academic seminars will be held at Educational Institutions on October 5. Directives in this connection have been issued by the State Education Centre to Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET).

The World Teacher’s Day is observed on October 5 every year as the UNESCO had issued recommendations in connection to teachers by preparing a document concerning ‘Status of Teachers’ at the Education Conference organized by it on October 5, 1966. A theme ‘The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher’ has been chosen by the UNESCO for the year 2018. The State Education Centre has directed the DIET to organize academic seminars based on this theme.

Deliberations will be held on role of teachers in efficiency of government schools, role of education and teachers in transmission of constitutional values, role of education and teachers in establishment of social justice and utility of teachers’ training in connection to make teachers active for imparting knowledge to students at these academic seminars. Moreover, it has been directed to hold seminars on the accomplishment by inviting the teachers, who have been awarded at national and state level.

Construction of school buildings - An action plan worth Rs. 900 crore has been prepared first time in the state to construct buildings of government schools, which have no building of their own. There is a provision of Rs. 459 crore in the fiscal year 2018-19 for construction of 125 high school and 572 higher secondary buildings. Directives have already been given by the Commissioner Public Instruction to the District Education Officers for constant monitoring of school buildings’ construction under way in the districts.

Boarding facility for students - In order to provide boarding facility to students, who come to pursue education at school of excellence located at district and block level, 100 seat hostels separately for boys and girls are also being constructed in 41 district level schools of excellence under the first phase.
