Black spots must be marked in first phase of Road Safety Audit

Bhopal. The meeting of State Road Safety Execution Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Home, Malay Shrivastava. It was decided in the meeting that black spots must be marked in the first phase of road safety audit. It was asked to form a permanent road safety engineer cell. Instructions were issued for training to auditor from WALMI. It was told to prepare master trainer by developing a calender by public works department. Instructions were issued to make road safety fund non-lapsable by holding discussion with finance department.

 It was told that 616 black spots have been marked. Reports should be taken from police station concerned whether there is decline in accidents through auditing of black spots being treated. Discussion was held on trauma centre in the meeting. It was informed that licences of 294 drivers have been suspended by Department of Transportation from April 1 to June 10. Road safety awareness / traffic education programmes were held in 563 schools and colleges during the road safety week by the police. One lakh 10 thousand 962 students participated in it. In April, 1759 drivers, who drove in inebriated condition, were challaned and 1387 cases were presented in the court. 381 cases were sent to competent authority for suspending permits. In May, 1666 cases were put in the courts after 1320 cases challaned and 320 challans were sent to competent authority for suspension of permits.
