Country’s oldest Lioness Jamuna dies

Bhopal. One of the country’s oldest lioness Jamuna died at Van Vihar National Park. Jamuna had completed 25 years and was in the 26th year of her age. It may be mentioned here that the average life of lion is 14-15 years.

It is to be highlighted that Jamuna was brought to the Van Vihar after her rescue at the age of 17 years from the Rajmahal Circus of Bhilai. She survived more than the average years, owing to the special care by the Van Vihar Management. Under the special care, she had also been given vitamins and minerals by the doctors at Van Vihar.

Jamuna was not suffering from any kind of illness. As per the prima facie in the post mortem, old age and failure of internal organs were found reasons for her death. The Director of the Van Vihar along with the staff bade mournful farewell to Jamuna with full respect.
