Election Commission of India assembly preparations
Bhopal. Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India O.P. Rawat, Election Commissioner duo, Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa from Delhi acquired information from the Central Observers appointed in the forthcoming assembly elections in 2018 about the activities prior to the voting in the state through the video conference from Delhi. The Commission has appointed 198 General Observers, 127 Expense Observers and 53 Police Observers in the state. Deputy Commissioner Chandra Bhushan and Additional Director General Shefali Sharan were present during the video conference.
The Election Commission took detailed information regarding photovoter slips, basic facilities at polling centers, arrangements for the disabled, law and order arrangement besides tour of sensitive areas from the point of view of law and order, deployment of central police forces, CCTV, meeting of collectors and superintendents of police of bordering districts, organizing promotional activities to make voters aware, various IT applications, registration of complaints, C-Vigil and marked copy of the voters list. .
Chief Electoral Officer, V.L. Kanta Rao told the Commission that basic amenities have been provided at polling booths. Plans have been prepared for the deployment of CCTV and Central Security Forces in sensitive areas. Strict action will be taken to put check on illicit liquor, a truck full of alcohol has been seized in Panna district and investigation is in progress. Telecommunication has been arranged in remote areas.
