IT Deptt raids house of Sushil Waswani, cash recovered
Bhopal. Income-Tax Department raided the house of BJP leader Sushil Waswani in Bairagarh on Tuesday morning. Along with this, survey was conducted at Mahanagar Cooperative Bank, in which, Waswani holds important position. I-T officials have recovered incriminating documents and cash in the exercise, which is likely to continue even on Wednesday.
I-T Department said Waswani group is supplier to Government departments, particularly, to Municipal Corporation. I-T Department also found that Waswani group has three hotels in the name of Sudarshan Palace in city.
Along with this, I-T Department suspected group’s involvement in Mahanagar Cooperative Bank in which Sushil Waswani holds an important position. It is suspected that huge sum was deposited post demonetisation in this bank and things are being verified in this regard.
I-T Department also said that cash in the form of junked currency had been seized in the search against Waswani group and it is being counted. The search exercise is likely to continue on Wednesday as well. Around 100 I-T officers were involved the search exercise.
It is learnt that Sushil Waswani was once bus conductor in defunct MP Road Transport Corporation’s buses. But later, he and his family members became prosperous and also own a vehicle showroom in city. It is also learnt that couple of senior BJP leaders are in the board of directors of the cooperative bank in which Waswani enjoys important position.
