Jaggery business helps Gulab self-help group flourish

Panna. Sugarcane is cultivated on a large scale at Pratappur village under State Rural Livelihood Mission in Ajaygarh block of Panna district. One of the self-help-groups of the village who have joined the trade is the Gulab group. The group members are engaged in making jaggery from sugarcane, which is fetching them good money.

Group Head Almeena told that earlier in the work started at smaller level, jaggery was sold at Rs 20 to Rs 25 per kg. Due to less income, gradually the group members increased the quantity of jiggery production. Now the quality and quantity of jaggery has reached in quintals. With the special quality jaggery, varieties like Kaju Gud, Sonth Gud are also being prepared. The jaggery has now reached the market from the village. The group is getting good cost at Rs 40 per kg.

The jaggery prepared by the Gulab group women has started becoming a hot selling product bring happiness in the families of the group members. It has become a flourishing business now.
