Mandis should enrich farmers by increasing business activities

Bhopal. Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Minister Gaurishankar Bisen has said that Mandi Samitis have a significant contribution in protecting the farmers from the exploitation of middlemen, providing better value of their produce within the stipulated time and providing better marketing facilities. He urged the Krishi Upaj Mandis to enrich the farmers financially by enhancing the facilities and business activities in the premises. Minister of Farmers Welfare Bisen was addressing a ceremony held to give away prizes to the best Upaj Mandis at Samanvay Bhavan.

He said that in the last decade and a half, important decisions have been taken in the interests of farmers in Madhya Pradesh. Farmers are being provided loans at zero percent interest rate for agricultural work. The state has been getting the Krishi Karman Award for remarkable achievement in the field of agriculture for five consecutive years. Work is being done speedily by making roadmaps to double the income of the farmers by 2022. Referring to the Mukhya Mantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, Minister Bisen said that farmers must get fair price for their produce for which they have been given incentive by the state government.

Bisen said that in order to give proper value to the farmers according to the market intervention rate, the state government has created a price stabilization fund at the cost of Rs one thousand. At the same time, the state government has decided to set up Madhya Pradesh Agricultural Cost and Marketing Commission to provide better facilities for agriculture produce cost and marketing facilities. He informed that 58 Krishi Upaj Mandis of the state have been linked to nationalized market so far under the Centre’s important scheme e-NAM. Minister of State for Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Balkrishna Patidar also addressed the programme. At the outset Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Rajya Krishi Vipanan Board Faiz Ahmed Kidwai gave information about the Mandi award scheme.
