Meeting of State-level committee for flood control before rain

Bhopal. State-level committee for preparations from prevention from flood was held today before rain. Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development, Radheshyam Julania, Additional Chief Secretary forests Deepak Khandekar, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, K.K. Singh and other senior officers were present.

 Principal Secretary, revenue, Arun Pandey told the meeting that directives have been issued to all district collectors/commissioners. Responsibilities have too been assigned to other departments.

 Arrangements will be made for installing barriers for traffic control over bridge/culvert, warning signage and roads by Public Works Department. Control overloading in passenger vehicle and conduction of old buses and unfit vehicles will be carried out by transport department.

 To inform state and district level control rooms in case of rise of water level in dams, inform district administration, control room and local public before opening of gates in case of overflow of water in dams, to inform about heavy rains in catchment area and coordination between Meteorological Department and Central Water Commission will be made by Narmada Valley Development and Water Resources Departments.

 Arrangement will be made by home department for motorboats, life jackets and rope for rescue operation for police/homeguard by home department. According to district level disaster management action plan, divers and equipment related with rescue operation will be availed at earmarked places. Home department has been assigned to coordinate with the Army. In case of emergency in flood affected areas, help from the Army and helicopter will be extended on demand by district administration.

 Necessary medicines and vaccines will be made available by public health and family welfare department in possible flood affected areas. Suitable arrangements for prevention from seasonable diseases like cholera, malaria will be made along with formation of teams of doctors and rescue workers.

 Cleanliness in nulla in urban areas, shifting of slums and drainage for flood water from low line areas will be ensured by Urban Administration and Development Department.

 Help will be provided by railways in transporting relief material, medicines, equipment and Army and Homeguard jawans.
