Monitoring mechanism must take effective action on election expenditure
Bhopal. The Chief Electoral Officer V.L. Kanta Rao at a meeting of Nodal Officers of Election Expenditure Monitoring mechanism said that monitoring teams should take action actively from the date of the model code of conduct in the districts according to the instructions of the Election Commission. Action should be taken at a fast pace in connection to the misrepresentation of property.
The Chief Electoral Officer has directed that the Police and the Transport department should check vehicles strictly. To avoid movement of illegal money, liquor and arms, checking should be done at railway stations. The narcotic wing of the centre and state should check movement of narcotics. All the investigative agencies must do video recording in connection to restrictive measures and confiscatory procedure.
Moreover, Rao directed the Income tax department to check the source of suspicious transactions and to deploy its team at airports, air strips and helipad.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer Lokesh Jatav, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kaul and Nodal officers of 15 departments were present in the meeting.
