BPL applicants of domestic power connections can now pay Rs 20 a month in 25 installments
Bhopal. State government has made available a new facility to poor families belonging to the below poverty line category. Now these families will not have to pay stamp duty of Rs 501 at a time for domestic power connection. This way the poor family will not have to deposit even a single rupee as stamp duty. They will get this facility of paying Rs 20 in 25 installments every month in the bills after they obtain the connection. An order has been issued in this connection.
As per the present provision in the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code it is essential for all applicants (including domestic BPL) to sign a contract on stamp paper. State government has made certain new provisions to give facility to the poor consumers for giving stamp duty of Rs 501. Under this, while providing electricity connection to BPL consumers they will have to sign a contract on plain paper after being given the domestic connection for paying stamp duty in 25 easy installments along with the monthly electricity bills. This means that they will have to pay Rs 20 per month with their electricity bill for 25 months.
