No land acquisition for Binjalwada Lift Irrigation Scheme

Khargone. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today performed bhoomi-pujan of the Binjalwada Lift Irrigation Scheme worth Rs 745 crore at Bhikangaon in Khargone district. He said that this is the first scheme of Nimad region in which no farmer’s land will be taken over.

Lift irrigation facility will be made available through the Binjalwada Lift Irrigation Scheme for 50 thousand 164 hectare agricultural land of 129 villages. The entire water distribution will be made through pipes under the scheme. The farmers will get 20 meter water pressure up to each 2.50 hectare area. With this, the farmers will be able to irrigate with the help of the new techniques of modern agriculture that is the fountain and drip method.

This innovative effort has been made on the initiative of the Chief Minister to make Narmada water available to farmers settled in the heights of Narmada Valley through canal irrigation. Through this scheme, water will be lifted and taken to 120.50 metre height in two phases. Under the scheme, main canal ID of Indira Sagar project will be released from 57.85 kms to 17.80 cubic meter water per second.
