Panchayat reps should put in their power and time in outstanding work

Mandla. Congratulating Panchayat representatives on Panchayat Raj Diwas, Prime Minister called upon them to work in such a manner in their village that it proves to be outstanding. He said that every people’s representative wishes to do a work that lasts long. This is an opportunity to resolve to fulfil this wish. PM Narendra Modi was addressing gram sabhas in the historic Ramnagar of tribal-dominated Mandla district on Panchayat Raj Diwas. He inaugurated the Utsav dedicated to the expression of tribal culture.

He told the panchayat representatives that they represent the sentiments of the country’s 125 crore population. The Panchayat Raj representatives get a 5-year tenure and they should spend their energy and time in doing some extraordinary work. The budget is not a concern. The only concern is to decide the priorities. The only concern is the utilisation of the budget at the appropriate time for the appropriate work with honesty and transparency. There is no dearth of budget like in the previous governments. There are several works that can be completed with a little responsibility, sensitivity and passion. One must resolve to undertake works like sending children to school, polio vaccination, maintain cleanliness and organic farming.

The Prime Minister said that the rural India can be rejuvenated with the correct and scientific use of wealth, forest wealth and Govardhan. Panchayat representatives are answerable to the people. If a sarpanch takes a strong resolve he can make a fundamental change in his village. There is need to pursue small jobs too with passion to bring about a major change in rural India.

Panchayat Raj Diwas a day to pledge for rejuvenation - The Prime Minister said that Panchayat Raj Diwas is a day to pledge for rejuvenation of India. The panchayat representative is a servant of the public and they can change the life of the village with their energy, power and foresight. Citing the example of promoting bamboo farming in Mandla district he said that the centre has changed bamboo from the category of sapling to grass in the interest of tribals so that its farming becomes easier and tribal farmers can generate more income by its maximum utilisation. Citing the example of small jobs like saving water in April, May and June under Bee keeping and MNREGA, he said that some small jobs that can bring about a major change can be completed even without a budget. For this there is need for panchayat raj representatives to be sensitive and farsighted.

In the year 2022 India will be completing 75 years of independence and on October 2, we will be celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. The panchayat raj representatives that they resolve to build an India of Gandhiji’s dreams and turn these five years into a golden period.

Focus on Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan - Referring to the LPG Gas Bottling Plant, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 120 crore in Maneri, Prime Minister said that this will make the supply of gas easily in adjacent districts. Employment related to it will be created. New opportunities will arise. Gas will be made easily available for the people. Focus should be on Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Vigyan.

Learn to respect girls and teach boys to be responsible - Referring to the ordinance brought to award death penalty in the case of misconduct with girls, he said that people should learn to give respect to girls and teach their sons to be responsible. This will make it easier to give protection to daughters. Anyone who behaves like a demon will hang on the gallows. For this, there is a need to run a social movement and to make people move ahead. The present central government listens to the voice of people's hearts.

Shaheed Smriti Sangrahalaya to come up in tribal dominated state - Modi said that a modern museum will be built in the concerned tribal dominated state in memory of the tribal martyrs’ sacrifices for the pride and independence of the country. This museum will take pride in reliving the memories of the tribal martyrs. Panchayats will have to be strengthened and made capable to strengthen the democracy. For this Gram Swaraj Abhiyan has been started under which events like Ayushman Bharat and Kisan Sammelan will be organized. He appealed the panchayat representatives to take active part in the campaign.

CM Chouhan said that the country has got an able leader in Prime Minister Modi. His heart beats every moment for India. He has enhanced the pride and honour of India's glory. He said that the first right on the country's resources is of the poor. No poor in the state would be left without a house. By the October 2018 every home will have electricity. About 13 lakh 50 thousand houses are being built for the poor. Referring to the decisions and programmes implemented by the Prime Minister in the interest of the poor, he said that the programmes made under his leadership are implemented immediately in Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said that now the children of tribal areas are going to study at IIT. The government is bearing the expenditure on the education of poor children from the first to the PhD. Rs 2 lakh crores will be spent on tribal development in the next five years. Announcing the protection and restoration of Ramnagar's historic Moti Mahal, he said that the work of renovation of the ancient Vishnu temple will also be started. He said that Gond Tribal Culture Study Centre will be established.
