Start inoperative Tap-Water Schemes immediately
Bhopal. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed officers that potable water crisis should not emerge at any place. Make proper arrangement immediately. Inoperative tap-water schemes should be started immediately and repair of out of order handpumps should be undertaken. Chouhan was reviewing the Public Health Engineering department here today. Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Gopal Bhargava and Chief Secretary B.P. Singh were present on the occasion.
CM stated that handpumps should be installed at places, where there is a potable water problem due to non availability of water source or take other necessary measures to handle the crisis. He further said that good quality work should be undertaken at these places. He mentioned that schemes should be prepared by the water corporation, keeping in account the requirements of the areas, so that water potable water could be made available to the entire village.
It was informed during the meeting that 5 lakh 38 thousand handpumps are working and 15 thousand 501 tap-water schemes are functional in the state. Four thousand 899 successful water sources have been created under the Mukhyamantri Gram Nal-Jal Yojana, Keeping in view the summer season, sufficient pipes and other important material have been made available at all the places. Amendments in tender documents of Water Corporation were approved in the meeting. Seven new schemes have been approved by the water corporation. Beside this, 12 schemes have already been completed and 22 schemes are in progress to benefit 1910 villages.
