Women SHGs should work for T.B. elimination also
Bhopal. In order to help the poor and underprivileged avail the benefits of government schemes, Governor Anandiben Patel told the groups of non-governmental organizations and women self-help groups to extend support in taking the schemes to the poor and the underprivileged in Balaghat today. The Governor heard the experiences of the women self-help groups and appreciated their work.
Patel told them to work for the elimination of Tuberculosis from the district. The treatment of the illness is possible. She said that all sections of the society should extend support and help in treating children suffering from T.B.
Sharing their experiences, the women told the Governor that at first they were hesitant to go to the bank. But ever since they connected with the Livelihood Mission, they have become more confident. Now they deposit an amount of Rs 25 in the group account every month. If need arises, the women members can take a loan from the group account on 2 percent interest. With this their group has become more or less a bank for them. Now the group has a collection of a huge amount. The women of the group have started lending money to other people in the village on interest.
Governor Patel viewed the products prepared by the Livelihood Mission women self-help groups in the district and lauded them for their efforts for employment. She told the women to work with awareness and inspire other women to become self-dependent.
